A comforting, hearty shepherd’s pie with savory ground beef, tender vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes, topped with melted cheddar cheese for the ultimate cozy meal.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 cup chopped onion

2 cups frozen corn, thawed

2 cups frozen peas, thawed

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons minced garlic

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules

1/2 cup cold water

1/2 cup sour cream

31/2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared with milk and butter)

3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion until beef is browned and onions are soft. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in garlic, corn, peas, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook 2–3 minutes until heated through.
  4. Mix cornstarch, beef bouillon granules, and cold water in a small bowl. Stir into beef mixture and simmer 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream until combined.
  6. Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the top and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and golden brown.
  9. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Swap ground beef for ground turkey or lamb.

Add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers for extra flavor.
