Taco Pizza is a delicious fusion of pizza and tacos, featuring a soft homemade crust, seasoned ground beef, creamy refried beans, salsa, and melted cheese, all topped with fresh taco garnishes. It’s a fun, flavorful meal perfect for family nights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Pizza Dough
2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for rolling)
1 package instant or quick-rise yeast (2¼ teaspoons)
¾ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
½ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
⅔ cup warm water
2 tablespoons oil

Taco Pizza
1 pound lean ground beef
1 package low-sodium taco seasoning (about 3 tablespoons)
¾ cup canned refried beans (about 7 oz or half a can)
½ cup jarred tomato salsa (mild or spicy)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, crushed tortilla chips, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños for garnish (as desired)

Instructions

  1. Make the dough: Combine 1 cup flour, yeast, salt, sugar, oregano, and garlic powder. Add warm water and oil, stir until combined. Gradually add more flour to form a soft dough. Knead on a floured surface for 3–4 minutes. Cover and rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Cook the beef: Cook ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart. Drain excess fat and stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer until thickened.
  3. Preheat oven: Set oven to 425 °F (220 °C).
  4. Assemble the pizza: Roll dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a pizza pan, spread refried beans, top with salsa, seasoned beef, and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake: Bake for 12–15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is melted.
  6. Add toppings: Remove from oven and add lettuce, diced tomatoes, tortilla chips, sour cream, and jalapeños.
  7. Serve: Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

Spicy option: Use hot salsa or add chili flakes for heat.

Cheese alternatives: Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican cheese blend can be used instead of mozzarella.

Vegetarian version: Replace beef with black beans, corn, or a plant-based meat substitute.

Crust alternatives: Use store-bought dough or pre-baked crust to save time.
