Ingredients

3 large ripe heirloom tomatoes

Handful of fresh basil leaves, freshly torn apart

1 (8 oz) ball of fresh burrata cheese, packed in brine, drained, and brought to room temperature

½ teaspoon flaky sea salt (with more for finishing)

½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

23 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Slice the heirloom tomatoes into thick rounds or wedges. Arrange them in a circular pattern on a serving platter or individual plates.
  2. Gently tear the burrata into pieces and place it on top of the tomatoes, keeping the creamy center intact.
  3. Scatter the freshly torn basil leaves over the tomatoes and burrata for a burst of fresh flavor.
  4. Sprinkle the salad with flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  5. Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil generously over the salad, followed by a light drizzle of balsamic glaze.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with additional flaky sea salt if desired. Enjoy the simplicity and deliciousness of this fresh summer salad!

Notes

If you can’t find burrata, fresh mozzarella is a great alternative, though burrata’s creamy interior makes it special.

For a twist, try adding fresh oregano or mint for additional herb flavor.

If you prefer, you can add arugula or olives for an extra Mediterranean touch.

If you don’t have balsamic glaze, you can substitute with a splash of aged balsamic vinegar or a drizzle of honey for sweetness.
