Strawberry Basil Lemonade is a refreshing, vibrant drink that combines sweet strawberries, tangy lemon, and aromatic basil. This easy-to-make mocktail is perfect for hot days, offering a delicious balance of fruity sweetness and herbal flavor. Whether served still or sparkling, this lemonade is a hit for summer gatherings, family picnics, or a cool treat at home.

Ingredients

For the Strawberry-Basil Simple Syrup:

2 cups strawberries (fresh or frozen)

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

1/4 cup loosely packed basil leaves

To Make the Strawberry-Basil Lemonade:

Strawberry-basil simple syrup (prepared above)

Ice

1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (about 79 lemons)

1 1/22 cups cold water or sparkling water

Instructions

For the Strawberry-Basil Simple Syrup:

  1. In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves.

  2. Once dissolved, bring the mixture to a simmer, cooking for 10-15 minutes while mashing the strawberries.

  3. Add basil leaves, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat and let it cool for 10-15 minutes. Strain to remove solids.

  5. Let the syrup cool to room temperature. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.

To Make the Strawberry-Basil Lemonade:

  1. In a pitcher, combine 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice with 1/2–3/4 cup strawberry-basil syrup, adjusting sweetness to your liking.

  2. Add 1 1/2–2 cups cold or sparkling water (for still or fizzy lemonade).

  3. Stir well and taste, adjusting sweetness or acidity as needed.

  4. Fill glasses with ice, pour lemonade over ice, and garnish with basil or strawberry slices.

  5. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Adjust sweetness by adding more syrup or lime juice to your taste.

For a sparkling version, use sparkling water or lemon-lime soda.

Prepare the strawberry-basil syrup ahead of time for convenience.
