Ingredients

1 artichoke

Juice from 1 lemon

Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Trim the artichoke stem so it sits flat, then cut the top 1-2 inches off the leaves to remove sharp tips.

  • Rinse the artichoke under cold water to remove any dirt.

  • Fill a large pot with 1-2 inches of water, add lemon juice, and stir to combine.

  • Place the artichoke stem-side down in the pot, cover, and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

  • Reduce the heat to low and steam for 25–40 minutes, until the outer leaves pull away easily.

  • Sprinkle with salt and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, add garlic, herbs, or pepper flakes to the steaming water.

Serve with melted garlic butter or a tangy dipping sauce like balsamic glaze.
