Spiced Pumpkin Butter is a rich and creamy autumn spread made with pumpkin puree, apple cider, and aromatic pumpkin pie spices. Perfect for toast, oatmeal, or baked goods, this easy recipe captures the essence of fall with every bite. It’s ideal for seasonal treats, gifting, and even as a canning project to preserve autumn flavors all year long.
15 oz pumpkin puree
¾ cup apple cider
1 ½ cups sugar
2 tbsp pumpkin pie spice
In a medium saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, apple cider, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice.
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 45-60 minutes until the mixture thickens and the flavors meld together.
Remove from heat once thickened to your liking.
Let the pumpkin butter cool before transferring it to an airtight jar or container.
Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or process for canning.
For a variation, swap sugar with maple syrup for Maple Pumpkin Butter, or add cayenne pepper for a Spicy Pumpkin Butter.
Ensure your pumpkin puree isn’t too watery by draining fresh pumpkin before use.
If canning, follow proper sterilization and sealing procedures to extend shelf life.
