Pizza sliders are a fun and delicious twist on traditional pizza, featuring savory sausage, melty mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and a rich pizza sauce, all packed into soft Hawaiian rolls. Topped with a buttery, garlicky seasoning blend, these sliders are perfect for game days, parties, or family dinners.

Ingredients

For the Sliders:

6 ounces Italian sausage

12 Hawaiian sweet rolls or slider rolls

1 cup pizza sauce (or marinara sauce), divided

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

24 pepperoni slices (or to taste)

1/4 cup salted butter, melted

3 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Dash crushed red pepper flakes

1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley

Extra pizza sauce or marinara sauce for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat and set aside.

  • Prepare the rolls: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the top and bottom intact as one piece. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Assemble the sliders: Spread half of the pizza sauce over the bottom half of the rolls. Layer the cooked sausage, followed by half of the mozzarella cheese, then arrange the pepperoni slices. Add the remaining mozzarella cheese, then spread the remaining pizza sauce on top.

  • Top the sliders: Place the top half of the rolls over the ingredients, pressing them down lightly.

  • Make the garlic butter topping: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes, and parsley. Brush the mixture evenly over the top of the rolls.

  • Bake the sliders: Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, until cheese is melted and the rolls are golden brown.

  • Serve: Let the sliders cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with extra pizza sauce or marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Meatless option: Use vegetables like mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions for a vegetarian version.

Different cheese: Try provolone, cheddar, or a blend of Italian cheeses.

Spicy sliders: Add jalapeños or spicy Italian sausage for a spicy kick.
