Philly Steak Cheese Fries are the ultimate comfort food, combining crispy fries, juicy steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and gooey melted cheese. Inspired by the classic Philly cheesesteak, this dish is easy to make and perfect for a hearty snack, appetizer, or main course. Customize it with different cheeses, meats, or spices to satisfy your cravings for cheesy, savory goodness.

Ingredients

For the Fries and Toppings:

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 onion, sliced

1 teaspoon garlic salt

1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced (or any other steak cut of your choice)

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cups frozen waffle fries (or fresh if preferred)

1 ½ cups shredded provolone cheese (or mozzarella)

For the Optional Garnishes:

Chopped fresh parsley

Additional cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Cook the Fries: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the waffle fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake according to package instructions, typically around 20-25 minutes, or until crispy and golden.

  2. Cook the Veggies: While the fries are baking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced bell pepper and onion, and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until tender and slightly caramelized. Season with garlic salt. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  3. Cook the Steak: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the thinly sliced steak. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Assemble the Fries: Once the fries are done, remove them from the oven. Top the crispy fries with the cooked steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and a generous sprinkle of shredded provolone cheese.

  5. Melt the Cheese: Return the loaded fries to the oven for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.

  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the fries from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley or additional cheese if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Meat options: Substitute ribeye with chicken, ground beef, or plant-based meat for a different take.

Cheese variations: Try cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend of cheeses for a custom flavor.

Spicy version: Add jalapeños, hot sauce, or pepper jack cheese for an extra kick.

Storage/Reheating: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
