The Iced Brown Sugar Latte with Shaken Espresso is a refreshing, flavorful twist on the regular iced latte. Combining the rich flavors of brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla with frothy shaken espresso, it’s the perfect balance of sweetness and bold espresso flavor, served chilled over ice.

Ingredients

For the Vanilla Brown Sugar Syrup:

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 cinnamon stick (or 1 teaspoon cinnamon)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 chai tea bags (optional)

For the Latte:

3 shots espresso

23 dashes cinnamon

1 cup oat milk (or milk of choice)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon stick (or cinnamon powder), and 1/4 cup water over medium heat.
  2. Stir the mixture continuously until the sugar has dissolved completely and the syrup is smooth. If you’re using chai tea bags, add them to the mixture and let steep for about 5 minutes before removing the tea bags.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Let the syrup cool to room temperature before using. You can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  5. Brew the espresso shots (or use a strong coffee if you don’t have an espresso machine).
  6. In a cocktail shaker or jar, add the brewed espresso shots, 2-3 dashes of cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of the homemade vanilla brown sugar syrup.
  7. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds until the mixture is well-chilled and frothy.
  8. Pour the shaken espresso over a glass of ice.
  9. Add 1 cup of oat milk (or your milk of choice) and stir gently to combine.
  10. Optionally, top with a pinch of extra cinnamon for garnish and serve immediately.

Notes

For a spicier version, add a pinch of ground ginger or nutmeg to the syrup.

You can substitute oat milk with almond milk, coconut milk, or dairy milk depending on your preference.

For a sweeter taste, add more vanilla brown sugar syrup or drizzle honey on top.

Chai tea bags are optional but add an extra layer of spice and warmth to the syrup.

If you prefer iced coffee over espresso, use brewed coffee for a milder flavor.
