Ingredients

For the Chicken:

1 cup vegetable oil

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon paprika

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut crosswise in half

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

2 large eggs, beaten

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

½ cup honey (or more, to taste)

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, thyme, oregano, paprika, and cayenne pepper. In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs.

  2. Coat the chicken: Dip each chicken piece in the beaten eggs, then dredge in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat evenly.

  3. Fry the chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken pieces and fry until golden and crispy on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. Make the honey garlic sauce: In a small saucepan, combine honey, garlic, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Stir well and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.

  5. Coat the chicken in the sauce: Add the fried chicken pieces to the pan and toss them in the sauce until fully coated.

  6. Serve: Transfer to a serving platter and serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

For extra spice, increase cayenne pepper or add hot sauce to the honey garlic sauce.

Swap chicken breasts for boneless skinless chicken thighs for a juicier, more flavorful option.

For a gluten-free option, substitute the flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
