These Homemade Easy Cheesy Pizza Pockets are a fun, handheld snack or meal filled with melted mozzarella, tangy pizza sauce, and your favorite pizza toppings, all wrapped in a golden, flaky dough.

Ingredients

1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or crescent roll dough for flakier texture)

1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup mini pepperoni or cooked sausage (optional)

1/4 cup chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives (optional)

1 tsp Italian seasoning

Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Dried oregano or garlic powder (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough (or crescent roll dough) on a flat surface. If using pizza dough, stretch it out into a rectangle or circle. If using crescent roll dough, press the seams together to form a solid sheet.
  3. Cut the dough into 4-6 equal-sized rectangles (or squares). Spread a tablespoon of marinara or pizza sauce on each dough piece, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and optional fillings like pepperoni, sausage, or veggies. Add Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes if desired.
  4. Fold the dough over the filling to form a pocket. Press the edges together firmly, sealing the filling inside. Use a fork to crimp the edges if needed.
  5. Brush the tops of the pockets with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish. Sprinkle with dried oregano or garlic powder for extra flavor.
  6. Place the pizza pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Allow the pizza pockets to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as-is or with extra marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, skip the meats and use more veggies like spinach or zucchini.

Experiment with different cheese combinations like provolone, cheddar, or ricotta for a cheesier filling.

For a spicy twist, add sliced jalapeños or chili flakes to the filling.

If you want a sweet touch, try adding pineapple or fig jam.
