Ingredients

2 pounds flank steak

Flank Steak Marinade:

1/2 cup olive oil

1/3 cup soy sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar (packed)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 cloves garlic (minced)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Make the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper until combined.

  • Marinate the Steak: Place the flank steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the steak. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for maximum flavor.

  • Prepare the Grill: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

  • Grill the Steak: Remove the steak from the marinade and discard any excess marinade. Grill the steak for 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare or longer for your preferred doneness.

  • Rest the Steak: Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for about 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

  • Slice and Serve: Slice the steak thinly against the grain and serve immediately.

Notes

Flank steak is best when sliced against the grain to ensure tenderness.

For added flavor, marinate the steak for up to 24 hours.

For a more intense flavor, you can add fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme to the marinade.
