Ingredients

Vegetable oil, for frying

1 (16-ounce) jar dill pickle slices

½ cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons garlic salt

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

¼ teaspoon pepper

¾ cup water

1½ cups panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Drain and thoroughly pat dry the dill pickle slices to remove excess moisture.

  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together flour, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and pepper.

  3. Gradually whisk in water until a smooth batter forms.

  4. Place panko breadcrumbs in a separate shallow bowl.

  5. Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep fryer or large skillet.

  6. Dip each pickle slice into the batter, letting excess drip off, then coat thoroughly with panko breadcrumbs.

  7. Fry pickle slices in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  8. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  9. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Add cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to batter for spice.

Use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option.

Try sweet or bread-and-butter pickles for a different flavor.

For a lighter version, bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15-20 minutes until crispy.

Serve with ranch, spicy mayo, honey mustard, or blue cheese dips.
