Easy Swirled Cinnamon Sugar Croissant Loaf is a soft, buttery, and flaky bread with a sweet cinnamon-sugar swirl. Inspired by croissants, this loaf combines rich layers of butter with a warm, cinnamon-scented filling, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups warm whole milk

1 tablespoon instant yeast

2 tablespoons honey

4 1/25 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling

2 teaspoons kosher salt

6 tablespoons salted butter, at room temperature

2 sticks (1 cup) cold salted butter, sliced into thin pieces

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 egg, beaten, for brushing

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, yeast, and honey in a small bowl. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add milk mixture and room-temperature butter. Knead until smooth, about 8–10 minutes. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  3. Roll dough into a 12×18 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  4. Distribute thin slices of cold butter over dough, leaving a small border.
  5. Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over butter.
  6. Roll dough tightly from long side into a log. Slice in half lengthwise and twist halves together to keep swirls visible.
  7. Place twisted loaf in greased pan. Cover and let rise 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Brush loaf with beaten egg and bake 30–35 minutes until golden. Cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

Add chopped nuts, raisins, or chocolate chips to the filling.

Swap honey for maple syrup in the dough for extra sweetness.

Use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar for a deeper flavor.

Drizzle with powdered sugar glaze for extra indulgence.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature up to 2 days. Reheat slices at 300°F (150°C) for 5–7 minutes.
