This Classic Lemonade is the perfect balance of tart and sweet, made with freshly squeezed lemons, water, and sugar. It’s easy to make and a refreshing treat for any occasion. 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
4 cups cold water
3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
Ice cubes
Lemon slices (for garnish)
Mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Make the simple syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let cool.
Juice the lemons: While the syrup cools, juice the lemons to get about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Strain to remove seeds and pulp, if preferred.
Combine the ingredients: In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir well and taste. Adjust the sweetness with more sugar or water if needed.
