Ingredients

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 46 lemons)

4 cups cold water

3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

Ice cubes

Lemon slices (for garnish)

Mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the simple syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let cool.

  2. Juice the lemons: While the syrup cools, juice the lemons to get about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Strain to remove seeds and pulp, if preferred.

  3. Combine the ingredients: In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir well and taste. Adjust the sweetness with more sugar or water if needed.

  4. Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the lemonade over the ice. Garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves, if desired.

  5. Chill (optional): Let the lemonade sit in the fridge for about 30 minutes for extra chill before serving.

Notes

Flavored Lemonade: Add fresh herbs like rosemary or basil, or infuse with fruits like strawberries or blueberries for a twist.

Sparkling Lemonade: Replace the water with sparkling water for a fizzy version.

Sugar-Free Option: Use stevia or monk fruit as a sugar substitute for a low-sugar or sugar-free version.
