Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup sugar

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups apple, peeled and chopped (about 2 medium apples)

1/4 cup sugar (for topping)

1 tsp cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the Batter: Cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes). Beat in eggs one at a time, then add milk and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.

  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing gently to avoid overmixing.

  5. Add Apples: Fold in the chopped apples evenly throughout the batter.

  6. Cinnamon Sugar Topping: Mix 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over the batter in the loaf pan.

  7. Bake: Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few crumbs.

  8. Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Add-ins: For extra crunch, add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans.

More Cinnamon: For a stronger cinnamon flavor, increase cinnamon to 1 1/2 teaspoons in the batter or topping.

Dried Fruits: Add dried cranberries or raisins for a twist on the traditional recipe.
