These homemade Cereal Bars are a quick, customizable snack made with your favorite cereal, peanut butter, and a natural sweetener. They’re satisfying, energizing, and perfect for breakfast, a snack, or a post-workout bite.

Ingredients

3 cups cereal of choice

2/3 cup peanut butter or nut butter of choice

1/2 cup agave, honey, or brown rice syrup

Optional: 1/2 tsp salt

Optional: 3 tbsp protein powder

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the peanut butter (or nut butter) and agave (or your choice of syrup). Heat over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Once the mixture is heated, remove from the heat and add in the optional salt and protein powder (if using). Stir until fully incorporated.
  3. In a large bowl, add the cereal and pour the peanut butter mixture over it. Stir gently to coat the cereal evenly, making sure all the pieces are covered.
  4. Line a baking dish or pan with parchment paper. Pour the cereal mixture into the pan and press down firmly to compact it into an even layer.
  5. Let the cereal bars cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, or place the pan in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to speed up the process.
  6. Once set, cut into bars or squares and enjoy.

Notes

For extra flavor, add dried fruit, chocolate chips, or seeds like chia or sunflower before pressing into the pan.

If making vegan bars, ensure you use plant-based protein powder and a vegan-friendly nut butter.

For a gluten-free version, choose certified gluten-free cereal.

If you don’t have protein powder, substitute with ground flaxseeds, chia seeds, or more cereal.

These bars are perfect for meal prepping and will last for up to 5 days at room temperature or up to a week in the fridge.
