This Cauliflower Steak recipe is a delicious, plant-based dish that works as a main course or side. Roasted or grilled, the cauliflower is perfectly seasoned with olive oil, garlic, and spices, creating a golden-brown crust while maintaining a tender interior. A flavorful, healthy option for vegetarians, vegans, or anyone looking to enjoy cauliflower in a new way!
2 heads cauliflower
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Prepare the Cauliflower:
Remove the outer leaves of the cauliflower. Slice each cauliflower head into 1-inch thick “steaks” from top to bottom, keeping the core intact. Reserve any leftover florets for another recipe.
Season the Cauliflower:
In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Brush both sides of each cauliflower steak with the olive oil mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
Roast the Cauliflower:
Place the cauliflower steaks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Roast for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and tender.
Preheat the Grill:
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Prepare the Cauliflower:
Slice the cauliflower into 1-inch thick steaks, as you would for roasting.
Season the Cauliflower:
Brush the cauliflower steaks with the olive oil mixture to ensure they are evenly coated.
Grill the Cauliflower:
Place the cauliflower steaks on the preheated grill. Grill for 4-5 minutes per side, until there are grill marks and the steaks are tender but still firm to the bite.
Serve:
Remove from the grill or oven and serve immediately.
Toppings: Add grated Parmesan, fresh herbs (parsley, cilantro), or a balsamic glaze for extra flavor.
Spicy Version: Add cayenne pepper or chili flakes for heat.
Marinate the Cauliflower: Marinate the steaks in the seasoning mixture for 30 minutes to an hour for deeper flavor.
Curry Flavored: Swap paprika with curry powder for an Indian-inspired twist.
