Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

3 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

Optional: zest of 1 lemon or orange, chopped nuts, or sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

  • Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.

  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture until soft dough forms. Stir in optional zest or nuts.

  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls, place on baking sheets, and flatten slightly.
