This refreshing 3-Ingredient Iced Matcha Latte is a simple, delicious way to enjoy the vibrant flavor of matcha green tea. Made with just matcha powder, hot water, and your favorite milk, this iced latte can be sweetened optionally with maple syrup or any preferred sweetener. Perfect for a quick pick-me-up or a soothing afternoon treat, it combines the earthy bitterness of matcha with creamy milk and refreshing ice.

Ingredients

Matcha Base

  • 1 teaspoon high-quality matcha powder
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) hot water, about 180°F

Milk and Extras

  • 1 cup milk of choice (we love Oatly Oatmilk Barista Edition!)
  • Ice (as desired)
  • Maple syrup or syrup/sweetener of choice, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Matcha: Sift 1 teaspoon of high-quality matcha powder into a bowl or large cup to prevent clumps. Pour 2 ounces of hot water heated to about 180°F over the powder. Whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion with a bamboo whisk or regular small whisk until a smooth, frothy matcha tea is formed.
  2. Sweeten the Matcha (Optional): Add maple syrup or your preferred sweetener to the matcha while it is still warm if you like your latte sweetened. Stir well to combine and dissolve the sweetener evenly.
  3. Assemble the Latte: Fill a serving glass with ice cubes. Pour 1 cup of your choice of milk (oat milk recommended) over the ice. Then, slowly pour the prepared matcha over the milk to create a layered effect or stir to combine for a uniform green tea latte.
  4. Serve: Insert a straw or stirrer, and enjoy your refreshing iced matcha latte immediately for the best flavor and chill.

Notes

  • Use high-quality ceremonial grade matcha powder for the best flavor and vibrant green color.
  • Water temperature should be hot but not boiling to preserve the matcha’s delicate taste and nutrients.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of milk such as almond, soy, or dairy milk to suit your preference.
  • Adjust sweetness or omit sweetener entirely to keep it natural and low in sugar.
  • Whisking vigorously is key to achieving a smooth, frothy texture without lumps.
